Director of Major Gifts Named At USOC
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) has hired Christine Toriello Walshe as director of major gifts. She reports to USOC Chief Development Officer Janine Alfano. Walshe is responsible for introducing prospective donors to the USOC and cultivating major gifts to support Team USA. Based in Los Angeles, Walshe concentrates on USOC supporters in the western states.
USAT Partnership Extended Through 2012
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Rudy Project, manufacturer of high-performance eyewear and helmets, has extended its partnership with USA Triathlon (USAT) through 2012.
Along with the partnership, Rudy Project has upgraded its sponsorship level to gold. As a gold-level sponsor, Rudy Project will be the official sunglass and helmet sponsor of USAT’s Trade Team, National Team and National Championships program.
State Farm Returns As USFS Sponsor
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—After a year-long hiatus, State Farm Insurance Companies has renewed its sponsorship of the U.S. Figure Skating Association (USFS). The sponsorship establishes State Farm as the official insurance company of USFS. In addition, State Farm will have commercial units in five NBC broadcasts of USFS competitions; in-arena signage at Skate America, U.S. Championships and the Skating Spectacular; sponsorship presence on the USFS-licensed Icenetwork.com; and other marketing rights.
Capron To Serve Another Year As US Sailing President
PORTSMOUTH, R.I.—US Sailing President Jim Capron has been re-elected for another one-year term of office. The board of directors voted Capron to a third-consecutive, one-year presidency term during the organization’s annual meeting in St. Petersburg, Fla. According to US Sailing bylaws, a president can serve a maximum of three consecutive terms of one year each.
USBC Partnership To Raise Money For Breast Cancer
ARLINGTON, Texas—The U.S. Bowling Congress (USBC) has partnered with The Bowling Foundation in an effort to advance the Bowl for the Cure fundraiser benefiting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation, which supports breast cancer research.
The Bowling Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization formed as the central charitable arm of the sport of bowling. Bowl for the Cure raised nearly $1 million last year—and more than $6 million since 2000.
Bowl for the Cure events will take place across the country in February.
